HERB W. R. COPLAND
August 14, 1922 - May 19, 2018

Survived by wife Beverley of 57 years; sisters-in-law, Shirley Tronrud and Delaura Weidenbacher and families plus many relatives in Scotland and cousins in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by mother and dad, Grace and Tom, and brother Gordon. Herb spent many weekends with best friends, Gordon Smith, Harold Hosford and Warren Johnston enjoying nature, birds, butterflies, plants, etc. He was an active member of Manitoba Naturalists for over 30 years. Herb worked at Bristol Airlines close to 10 years, drafting for two years, surveying for eight years. He worked at Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature for 30 years retiring in 1992. He went on many outings with Bob Nero catching and banding Great Gray Owls. He also spent many years trapping and banding Grosbeaks. Herb fell and hit his head in 2007 which limited his activity. He was at Poseidon Nursing Home for eight months and Concordia Place one and a half years, well looked after. A prayer to God was answered for a peaceful death. There will be a graveside burial at Transcona Cemetery with Pastor Gerry Derksen kindly officiating.
