I know that some of you frequent Froona's NL website and blog on peregrines and may be aware that she has recently taken ill.
As per Dutcheagle who first broke the news: She was admitted to hospital with very serious lung/breathing problems and is currently in IC and on breathing support. Current updates say that her condition has stabalized but remains unchanged.
She is also a contributor on the BCAW board and has her own special section there. As such they have set up a post that is keeping everyone appraised of Froona's condition and is being updated by friends from the NL. You can also leave Get Well Wishes there:

Who or What is Froona? This from Carly ...
She [Froona] works for the Netherlands Peregrine Project (S2 and Pa are the ones she looks after directly I believe) but she reports on every single peregrine nest in the world with a web cam on her english blog. Her NL blog is in Dutch.
Here is the link for her world wide blog:

I just received this tragic news from SGB.
"I just wanted you to know that Froona has passed away...I received an email from Ingrid letting me know...She died at 21:15, with her brother and neighbor at her bedside."
A huge loss for the world, she was such a beautiful person and through her web site you could clearly see that she absolutely adored peregrine falcons.
I just know that her spirit is now soaring with the falcons. Rest in peace Froona and as you always used to say when one of our beloved falcons passed on 'Fly Free!.

This is truly heartbreaking news. :'( :'( :'(
-
A very sad loss to the world of Peregrines and humans alike. Her family will miss her terribly. May they hold onto each other as they make their way through this difficult time.

Truly heartbreaking :'(
My thoughts and prayers and with her friends and family. Froona's spirit will live on in the skies! "Fly Free"
I will quote a line from Forrest Gump (I have already used this quote in another thread but, this time, it seems more fitting to this situation)
"Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here."
-
Oh what a shock. I knew she must be very seriously ill from the initial report but still shock. Life is so fragile.

I will miss Froonas words of wisdom.
when you wanted to know something she was there with a video , or a re[port , or a picture.
The world of falcon followers will miss here dearly. She was a true treasure.
She helped me cam watch by some of her words of positive wisdom when things in the cam world were not going as we would have liked.
soar free Froona. I know you will be watching .

Such a great loss. Her passion and love for the peregrine is legendary, especially in Europe. She has been such a wonderful teacher and advocate for her dear falcons....I will dearly miss her and all her contributions to the falcon world and our Bird Cams Around the World forum. We were so blessed to have her as a "team member"....but I know that her spirit will linger on in everything she has touched while on this earth. Go in peace, Froona...for I know your beloved animals that have gone before you, await you with joy..

Thanks SBG, I will be tuning in - I'll be at work but I'll be there as long as I can possibly be. Still hard to believe she's gone, I still go to her site everyday - don't know what I expect to see but it's been a habit for so long.. :'(

I was so very sorry to read about Froona. She will be very much missed by so many people around the world. She had such a passion for peregrines, and was always willing to share her knowledge.
It is not possible for me to be online tomorrow morning, but I will be thinking of Froona.
-
I won't be able to be online either tomorrow :(
I will be thinking of Froona flying free and my deepest sympathy to her friends, family and falcon followers.

Not to worry....we will keep the site open until tomorrow evening...to give our own members a chance to post. We will close non-member posting after that...but anyone may view it at any time after that...so please stop by....
-
Skygirlblue - what time (Winnipeg time) exactly will the site close down to non-member posting? Just so folks here don't miss it because of a time zone miscalculation. Thanks!

We really don't have a cut off time...but my guess is 9 or 10 tonight (East Coast~GMT-4)....If that changes, I will let you know...We've had a very nice response so far, and hope that some of you will be able to stop by....We're trying to be sensitive to the various time zones....so we may go later...for our west coast members...
Thanks...
