Do they ever breed during their winter vacation?

If this is something you've not seen before, it must be unusual -- will be really interested to hear more as you learn more.

Yesterday while Dennis and I were "snooping" on the birds, we discovered a rather unusual visitor in the West Winnipeg territory.  It was/is a young peregrine near to the Bed & Breakfast.  The bird was hanging out and while Dennis was able to get some photos we can't say if it had bands or anything like that, it wasn't quite that cooperative.  What we can say is that it looks like a juvenile male peregrine falcon.  I use the term juvenile specifically because the bird looks just like our chicks at fledge age.  At this time of the year, I would expect to see a bird with adult or adult with some juvenile features, but this bird was brown and gold, no white, no black, no slate grey.  Not something I've seen before.  Anywho, going to farm the question out to those who know more about it than I and will let you know what I hear ...

Dennis and I were out snooping this morning and no sign of anyone here or downtown.  Poo.  Hopefully they were out causing chaos, not in the midst of it!

Spotted Jules on one of her favoured perches at roughly 8pm tonight.

1100 hrs today - no one at the favoured perches in the West Winnipeg territory, but it is a beautiful day for hunting, warm not much wind (for a peregrine) and things are moving around so there's plenty of variety!!

Note, the forecast calls for increasing wind this afternoon, gusts up to 50 km/h but at least the chance of rain seems to have disappeared!!

Hi of 12C today, tomorrow sunny and 11C.  Enjoy the weekend folks, next week's suppose to have rain ...

Was heading north on Route 90 this morning and there were two peregrines in West Winnipeg - usual spots on the Diner.  Couldn't tell and unfortunately couldn't stop to identify who they were but it could be someone new or it could be someone old come a'visiting ....  ;)
Ahhhh.........TPC, you're just trying to get some gossip started!!  ;D

Report from Dennis - Jules is talking up a storm to whomever has come a'calling ... not where we want them however its early days yet!
maybe it is Ivy and Jules is giving him a piece of her mind. ;D

Wow - the rumors and speculation are sure flying in the West!

;D
And I really can't figure out what this is supposed to mean! LOL! ::)

Wow! It seems that tomorrow will be an exciting day, as we hope to discover whether we now have four peregrines in two territories of Winnipeg!
Wouldn't that make for an exciting season?!?

Hey Ya'll........I think it's about time we get Back on Topic.

Just wanted to thank Dennis, TPC and BccS for your eyes and updates (aka air quality checks  ) about our birdies.
It is so wonderful to have onsite updates of what is happening in the "now".
We all wish that it would have been different, but it is what it is.  We must take joy and delight in what we have, and not dwell on what we wanted to have.
Are we not lucky that Princess has accepted Ivy and that chicks are coming?!
Are we not lucky that it appears that Jules may have found a mate?!
So, instead of mourning for Trey (which we shouldn't be), we should be taking joy in that fact that nature prevails, and that Trey and Princess' son, Ivy, is continuing the bloodline.

Let's all enjoy these moments, and move forward.

Wow - the rumors and speculation are sure flying in the West!

I hope that Jules has found a fella all her own. I feel so badly for her out there by herself while Ivy's up to shenanigans at the Radison.

Looking forward to more updates about the new birdie.
Yes, I do hope we will hear something very soon! :-*
