TPC, is this little one going to be banded, or is the location just too difficult to access?

Any news from the W.W. nest today :)

Little solo chick is doing fine, Jules and Beau are still wildly protective. We are now 2-3 weeks before fledging so the Brandon chicks should be all up and acrobatic before this little guy starts walking the edge of his ledge!  Whew, one fledging at a time!  :D

Checked out the WW site at 5:30. Both adults at the site. Spent a little extra time checking it out with my binoculars. Could not see the chick at all, that is probably a good thing, but could see the spy cam and a poop streak over the ledge edge. Came back to the site about 6:00, one adult still at the nest site and one on the wing :)

Tracy any news on when the banning will take place?
Will you put a transmitter on him/her?

We are hoping we can get access in the next day or two to get our little solo chick banded.  Jules is very protective so its going to be a bit hairy alright, but he/she is safe at the moment and looks to have been developing nicely.  We tend not to be able to see the chick all the time, it likes to wander out of camera range!!

As for a transmitter, the chick is a candidate but it will depend when the time comes.  We have a very small window of age - they have to be big enough that they have their juvenile (brown) feathers on their backs and breasts so that the transmitter doesn't interfere with their growth but not so old that they are hanging out on the roof edge, we won't take the risk of any chicks fledging prematurely.  So not for at a couple of weeks if at all.  We will have to see what the WW chick is doing and where when s/he is old enough.

"Tot" has wandered out of camera range, I believe to get to the concrete pretty much right under the camera which will be cooler for the fuzzy parka-d one.

No news yet on when we will be able to band this little guy but hopefully sometime in the next week ...

Hey, Jules caused chagrin/annoyance to the Project this year by her choice of nest site.
Maybe this break for freedom by the chick will be remembered as a big negative for this site next year when she is choosing where to lay eggs.
