Cowboy is sitting up on the  J of the Buhler building this morning at 9:00.
There is now a crow's nest with 4 eggs in it in the trees along McDermot Ave within view of the Buhler letters facing the east.

I was off on Friday, but other staff saw both Cowbay and Kate here all day on
Friday in the rain.

Since about Wednesday last week, every time(4x a day) I drive by the Fed Lab building, it looks like the pigeons have taken it over again.  I have not seen the falcons there at all.

Not really.  Birds are hanging out at HSC but that seems to be it at the moment.  Didn't want to check the nestsite during the rainy cool weather, better just to leave everyone to do what they are or aren't going to do when its like that.

Their first nest appears to have failed.  If they nest again, wherever they nest again, it takes a couple of weeks to get back on track - need to go through copulation and nest scraping again.  Hope to go up this week though as the weather will be warm and dry.

So, the lone egg is not viable at all?  How sad!

Is the egg not viable now or could it be incubated?  Probably not the thing to do but had to ask? ???

We found the egg on Wednesday last week, hoped to see an egg on Friday but didn't but that could have just meant not laid yet.  By Monday no additional eggs so pretty much sure they weren't laying any more this time around.  Not knowing Cowboy's or Kate's backgrounds (other than their origins) hard to know what, or even if, they have had a successful breeding history.  Also don't know what their response is to human presence so we are leaving the site alone at this point in the hopes that they might decide to come back here to try again if they are of a mind to.  We know they have been back in the nest-tray so that's a good sign but it's still watch and wait.

Looks like Cowboy's and Kate's first nest has failed.   They appear to have fully abandonned their lone egg.  The egg was confirmed last Wednesday and was at least the second egg laid.  Now they are back to their routine when they first arrived, hanging out at all their favourite places but HSC in particular.  So don't know if they are revving up for a second attempt or not - and yes, there still is time for a renest, particularly since they appear to have lost their nest in the early stages.  And because we don't know them, can't even gauge what they might do based on their behaviour.

We're back to waiting and watching again folks.
