Well, you know some of those lady peregrines aren't to keen on showing off their legs .........at least the ones that we want to see.  ::)

well well well, who is hooking up with who, and where will be there locations for the next few months? This should be an interesting year like all the others. I am sure hoping no blood shed for any of them over territory.

Wow I hope not! If Princess does show up, she won't be too pleased about all this interest in 'her' digs! Fingers crossed all goes well !!  8)

All quiet at the nestbox this morning - not usual at the moment the sun has only just come around the building so the box is much more appealing as a destination now.  And there are only a few vestiges of snow/ice left in the box which is great, with the sun it will dry up in there nicely before we have to clean out last year's debris!

Our black/red female bird turned up in the nestbox again but she was alone and she only stayed for a minute - not long enough for me to zoom in on her legband.  Not so much wind today so if she comes by before the sun gets too low I may get another chance at an ID ...

Somebirdie sitting pretty as you please on the corner of the nest box @ 7:55 AM this morning.  Wish people would be patient with me when the light turns green and I am trying to see who is on the nest box.  ::)

It has been quiet all morning.  Have zipped around with the skycam to check out the Hydro sign and the Rogers sign when they were in the sun but no one there.  Now the sun is just south of the Hotel so we will have sun on the nestbox in a little while and lo and behold, there is a bird, female it looks like, on the Radisson sign.  I'm looking down on the bird right now and the sun is just starting to lighter him/her up.  Maybe they will cooperate and let me peak at his/her legbands this afternoon while the light is good.

And I can not see a crown of lighter coloured feathers so it doesn't look like Princess is home yet ...

At 2:00 there was a bird on the east ledge. Most definitely not Ivy and I couldn't see well enough to say it was Princess.

Who ever it is is at the nest box right now.
I don't have a camera but it has a nice white breast.

That was the female with the black/red band - she's been the most frequent visitor in the box since she arrived on the 30th.  Yesterday she was the only one in/at the box but today she had a male with her - and I don't think it was Ivy, I think perhaps it was Cowboy - the facial pattern was different from Ivy but it did look like Cowboy I think.

Could be we might have a new pair at the Radisson ...

0835h CDT

Male popped into the box, turned around looking for someone (anyone?) then popped up onto the box edge and sat there for a minute before literally getting blown off the box edge.  The camera is shaking like its filming an earthquake with the south winds we have right now so not sure how a video clip will turn out but if its half-way decent, I'll post it on YouTube later today - it's a cool sideways flying exit from the box.

That has been the only visitation so far (it's just after 11am now) but perhaps if the sun will come out and the wind will drop or even if just the wind drops, we might get a visit this afternoon - they really do like the box when it is in the sun in these cooler temperatures.

The Rogers sign (north side) has now become the Rendez-Vous Sign!  Female is on the last S, male is on the circle logo at the other end.  Just a minute ago there was some very adept aerial canoodling on the "S" given that according to both the Forks and the U of Wpg's weather stations the winds downtown are 46km/h with gusts to 60+km/h.

Last night Ivy (and a second blurry look at his band still makes me think its him) was starting to make scrapes in the nestbox, so unless Princess gets back in the next few days, we may have a new pair at the Radisson ...

Looks like the north side Rogers sign is going to be the favourite roosting spot today given our south wind - both bird are sitting pretty and preening at the moment ...

Not sure where she is at the moment but both the male (who I'm pretty sure is Ivy) was just in the box and she was in a little while ago - will check the recorder and slow down the video and see what we've got on for band numbers.  At normal speed the image is just being shaken too much to even guess about the band number but we will keep working at it.

He's back on the north side sign of the Rogers Building ...
