I found a couple of meanings for the name Ani, one is "Powerful and Complete" and also one meaning "Beautiful".  I guess it doesn't really matter as long as this pair have healthy chicks.  :)

I hope they keep the name, they should think StarWars, Ani was short for Aniken.

The cam is finally LIVE now!!  ;D   We will be able to watch Miracle and Annie or maybe call him Andie?  :-\   They have four eggs now too!!

He was named for our 30th Annie-versary, so I hope they keep his name (which is the protocol).  Shortening his name to Anni might make it a little less obviously a female name but the story is good - he was too large for male bands so he was sexed as a female at banding.  John Wayne's name was Marion Robert Morrison and his image didn't suffer much.

Thanks, TPC, that was an interesting catch up of the events back in July 2010.

Following that was an interesting comment by allikat:

Wow, what a report!  Well, a big thanks is in order to BccS, Eye-spy and Gail for their quick thinking on Saturday morning!  Still can't believe that a female fledged first!  Today sounded much more intense!  Again, thank you to who was present to help out our falcons! I write it again, still am very surprised that the females went first, but things happen for a reason.  Great job everyone and another big thanks goes out to the  "Fledge Watcher" !  As TPC wrote, a good night's sleep is in order and well deserved!  So there we are.  That first fedgling was not a female, after all!

I believe Annie is the chick we rescued when she tried fledging the first time way back in July 2010.  First time I saw a Peregrine up close.  It was so exciting.  That was a great year for the WW birds.  Good nesting site and lots of action.

Moonstar is correct - it was Annie.  For those of you who would like to catch up - Annie's Rescue

Heard from Fargo,

Annie's mate is the resident female since 2008, Miracle.  They know they have two eggs already, third one probably and think incubation has just started or is about to start.  Productivity in Fargo has been low over the last few years, so it will be interesting to see what some new genetics add to the mix.

Webcam will (hopefully) go online shortly - they will send out an announcement.  I'm on their mailing list as I'm sure others are so we will get the news as soon as it is available.

Is this the first time you have had news of Annie, TPC? :-\

It is.  And that is not surprising, we generally don't hear about our birds unless they are nesting.  Occasionally we hear about a sighting outside of the breeding season.

Neat-o! It is wonderful to hear about the kids. Wish more of them would write home.  :)

Well now is the time when we hear from other projects - birds are showing some leg and cameras are going live and band numbers are being read, so who knows, we may yet have news about more kids and grand-kids.
