hi Tracy, I know this isn't the place but sent you a message and wasn't sure if you're checking messages yet.

Someone is asking on a US site to ID a pefa that's showed up in 'Manitoba'.  I've asked if this sighting is recent as I know it's early for your birds but if it's Manitoba then the bands would be yours and not out east.


Never mind got the story, she's living in Manitoba but she saw Durand (from Hamilton, I thought that number was familiar..lol) at the Columbus site.  She saw my post and replied so we've sorted it out.

The "lovebirds" were Smiley and Jolie.  If only Princess was so attached to the site.

Sorry, forgot to mention that Smiley has been doing the dance with Joli in the nestbox but they are very short, a few seconds and then he's off again.  With Princess he danced longer.

We tend to forget, now that Princess and Smiley are together, that in fact, Smiley has courted Joli pretty much every year he's been in town ...

We think that Smiley has been visiting the Logan territory as well ... his breast is bright white at this time of the year, Joli's has gone much more salmon/rust coloured.  It's part of the colour changes related to the pre/post nesting season - some change colours more than others and at different times.

Thanks for posting this video, TPC. Our Radisson Royals are showing us their encore performance and possibly taking their season ending curtain call. Bravo! Princess and Smiley.  :)
