« on: March 17, 2022, 16:31 »
  8) ;D

It looks like April returned today! She's unbanded but has a white spot on her left malar that seems to always be there even after moulting. I only saw one falcon today but will be checking again tomorrow!  ;D

Yay!! Another day another falcon has returned.  :)

There were two of them this morning out at the Tower site. I think it's Wingo but need a band to confirm. Hopefully he will go downtown to the McKenzie building. It will be easier to see his band when he's not 200 feet up on the tower.  ???

Wingo

I saw these two on the roof of the McKenzie building this morning with prey.  I took a few shots with my camera and she left and went east towards the Tower site. Wingo left also...not sure where he went. No band today!  ::)

We left and went to the Tower site and sure enough April was perched up on the catwalk railing. No sign of Wingo.

Looks like there will be eggs in the near future!  :-*

Usually takes a couple of weeks after successful copulation before the first eggs are laid.  Nice thing about pairs that know each other is that "successful" copulation usually happens earlier in the copulation cycle than for newlyweds.  And I'm never sure if the Brandon birds don't have some rendezvous point before they get to Brandon when they start laying eggs sooner than expected based on their behaviour in town.

Looking forward to your first suspicion that they are laying eggs RCF!!  Pretty sure they will be our first nest this year.

RCF has sent me a photo of April in the same spot so hopefully I don't make the same mistake again!  ;D
