The Cold Shoulder

I've only been watching our newly arrived male for two days but it doesn't look like Trey. There is a pattern on his head like Princess' crown of lighter plumage on her head. Trey's head is uniformly very dark, a common trait in his family. We know of two of Trey's and Princess' offspring and they both have lighter versions of Princess' head markings rather than Trey's black cap. Think I saw a black band on the new male but can't be positive, it was just for a split second. We have had reports of a peregrine near last year's unsuccessful nestsite in west Winnipeg so it is possible that this new male could be Ivy, Princess' and Trey's offspring from 2005. And the female (who I do think is Princess) seems to want to have nothing to do with this new male. If he's on the Hotel, she won't come near it. If he takes wing, she's gone. Its still early days yet, so we will have to see what happens.
