Hatch Watch - Day 3
2100 hrs - getting a last look at Princess incubating the eggs. She hasn't moved much so I'm assuming we still have eggs and I don't imagine I'll get another good look before the light goes this evening. I was trying to remember if last year we had this much wind and though I remember the wind events (tornadoes, wind storms), I couldn't remember if we'd had wind on an almost daily basis like this year. Checked Environment Canada's data and the average wind speed since May 1st has been 21 km/h at 12 noon. There was only one day when there was no wind recorded. I also checked the maximum wind gusts for the same period and they ranged from 32 to 74 km/h (average = 46 km/h). Can't help but admire Princess' and Trey's dedication to those eggs!
Even snugged down on the eggs Princess' feathers are being blown in every which direction.
1500 hrs - no sign of chicks yet. Princess has been snugging herself up next to the Hotel wall all day I think because of hte wind, she seems to get less "fluffed" up when she's there.
1130 hrs - three eggs clearly visible and they all look fine. The sun is shining and though the wind is (still) blowing, it doesn't seem to be as turbulent as yesterday. Hard to believe that it has been one month, actually 31 days, since Princess and Trey began incubating.
